Marlins launch Fans' Choice Bobblehead promotion

MIAMI -- The Florida Marlins announced today the launch of the Fans' Choice Bobblehead Promotion, which will provide fans with the opportunity to help decide the next Marlins bobblehead giveaway to be distributed on Friday, Sept. 19 during Fan Appreciation Weekend.

Starting Sunday, March 16 through Sunday, March 30, the Florida Marlins will release daily candidates who will contend for the opportunity to have their likeness re-created in the form of a fan bobblehead giveaway. One candidate will be chosen to represent each of the 15 seasons of Marlins baseball (1993-2007). A final list of the 15 franchise iconic players will be unveiled prior to Opening Day on Monday, March 31.

After the final list of 15 Marlins franchise players is revealed, fans are encouraged to log on to the team's official website, www.floridamarlins.com, and cast their votes for who they believe is the player most deserving of being represented on this coveted piece of fan memorabilia. Online voting for the Fans' Choice Bobblehead promotion begins Monday, March 31 and will continue through Friday, June 1.

Fans will have the opportunity to review player statistics, biographies and additional information on each individual candidate that will help them decide their vote.

The 15 candidates will be decided from the following list of Marlins greats:

The winner will be announced on Friday, June 6, and production of the bobblehead piece will follow immediately thereafter. The fan giveaway will be distributed to the first 10,000 fans in attendance at the Marlins vs. Phillies game on Friday, Sept. 19 at Dolphin Stadium as part of Fan Appreciation Weekend.
