The Fifth Annual Marlins Awards Dinner presented by Fox Sports Florida and hosted by the Florida Marlins Community Foundation took place on Friday, February 6, 2009 at Jungle Island. The event turned out to be a huge success and recognized the individual performances of Marlins players from the 2008 season and presented community based awards.

Several Marlins players including Marlins players Chris Volstad and Cameron Maybin help raise funds on March 21 at the 2009 Spring Training Basebowl Tournament. The event took place at Jupiter Lanes and benefitted the Quantum House, Marlins / Cardinals Fund and FMCF. 36 teams bowled all in the name of charity.
From February 2-7, 2009, Marlins players and front office personnel traveled to 20 South Florida locations to introduce and welcome back the 2009 players into the community. During the dates of February 2nd - February 7th, the Marlins Caravan traveled to over 20 locations. The Jiffy Lube Marlins Caravan included the BankUnited Marlins Celebrity Golf Classic, which helped raise nearly $80,000 and the Marlins Awards Dinner presented by Fox Sports Florida that helped the FMCF raise $27,000. The Caravan culminated with the Jiffy Lube FanFest where the FMCF raised nearly $14,000 though the Community Corner Garage Sale, online auction player experiences and parking.

The BankUnited Celebrity Golf Classic presented by Sharp Business Systems and driven by Champion Audi took place on Thursday, February 5, 2009 at Bonaventure Country Club in Weston, FL. This event offered the opportunity to join Marlins players, coaches, broadcasters and other local celebrities during a day on the links. The tournament included 18 holes of golf, continental breakfast, exciting contests, unique auction items, great prizes, cocktail reception and awards dinner.

a. UPDATE - The 13th Annual Dinner on the Diamond took place on May 17, 2009 on the field at Land Shark Stadium after the Marlins/Dodgers game was complete. This annual event allowed fans to get to know Marlins players on a personal level and experience the thrill of spending the afternoon on the playing field, enjoy interactive games, taste food inside the bullpen, bid on auction items and much more. Dinner on the Diamond Honorary Event Chairman, Cody Ross, spent plenty of time talking with Marlins fans of all ages along with other Marlins players, front office personnel and the most famous mascot in MLB, Billy The Marlin. Guests were encouraged to bring a blanket, which were donated to Camillus House at the conclusion of the event. Hundreds of guests were welcomed on the field for Dinner on the Diamond which raised over $30,000 for the benefitting charities Camillus House, Daily Bread Food Bank and the Florida Marlins Community Foundation.

Join the FMCF and children from the Boys & Girls Clubs at the 11th Annual “Dollars & Strikes” Night. You will enjoy a Marlins game from the all-you-can-eat seats on the club level in left field with full access to all the club level amenities. Your tax-deductible donation to the Florida Marlins Community Foundation will go towards purchasing tickets so less fortunate youth in South Florida will have the opportunity to attend a Major League Baseball game.
All the youth invited will attend a game either on September 11 or 13 vs. the Washington Nationals. Children who participate in local South Florida youth organizations will experience the thrill of a Major League Baseball game, many for the first time in their lives. The top donor from the 2009 Fans Care Weekend will have the opportunity to throw out a First Pitch on September 13.

The 2009 Fish 'N Chips casino party is scheduled for August 27 on the Club Level at Land Shark Stadium.
The 2nd Annual Fish 'N Chips Casino Party presented by Bennett Auto Supply & FSN Florida welcomed fans to the IGFA Fishing Hall-of Fame & Museum on July 17, 2008. Marlins players Hanley Ramirez and Matt Treanor, along with Manager Fredi Gonzalez and other celebrities joined FMCF for an exciting night. Fish 'N Chips included casino games such as Blackjack, Poker, Roulette and Craps. All-in-Free Poker organized the poker tournament while Dewar's 12, Premiere Beverage Company and Anheuser Busch provided cocktails for the evening. The event raised over $12,000 for the Cornerstones for Kids programs.


The 2009 Annual Garage Sale will place on Wednesday, September 23 during the Marlins game at the Community Corner (section 149). Fans can shop for a variety of autographed items from current Marlins and former players. There will also be promotional items, framed memorabilia and a variety of game-used equipment offered to baseball fans.

Look for the 2009 Fox Sports Florida Fantasy Auction to broadcast on June 23 during the Marlins/Orioles game. Throughout the live telecast, Fox Sports Florida will host a special on-air auction giving viewers the opportunity to bid on once-in-a-lifetime Marlins-themed packages. The 10th Annual MDA Jerseys Off Their Backs raffle offered fans the chance to win one of fifteen game-used & signed Marlins jerseys. The Wasie Foundation awarded a $10,000 grant to support the event that helps send the MDA kids to summer camp. The raffle raised $8,000 and a total of $14,000 was donated to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
The 2009 MDA Jerseys Off Their Backs Raffle will take place on Saturday, September 26.
Minor League Night took place at the Community Corner at section 149 on September 12, 2008. Memorabilia from the Florida Marlins Minor League affiliates was represented including the Greensboro Grasshoppers, Jacksonville Suns, Jamestown Jammers, New Orleans Zephyrs and Jupiter Hammerheads. These items were featured through various auctions, raffles and grab bags.
The 2009 Minor League Night with the Marlins will take place on Friday, September 11.

This annual event offered a chance to bid on auctions, win raffle prizes such as a 1st Pitch Opportunity, enjoy a buffet and help raise funds for the Florida State League scholarship program. Andrew Miller and Gaby Sanchez answered questions including Miller's own Autographs For Kids program.

A great opportunity for fans to obtain player experiences, game-used equipment and more will take place on July 4 when the Marlins Wives help raise funds for the S.O.S. Children's Villages-Florida in Coconut Creek. This annual event offers a chance to bid on "Marlins Tackle Boxes," which are unique to each player's personality. Each tackle box will include items such as game-used autographed memorabilia, experiences and more. Learn about your favorite Marlins players hobbies while obtaining some great memorabilia. Visit the Community Corner at section 149 to see the available Tackle Boxes on Saturday, July 4 when the Marlins face the Pirates.

The Marlins welcomed the Cubs to South Florida for Wrigleyville from August 15-17, 2008 to help raise funds at the Community Corner. FMCF organized auctions, raffles, mystery items and more to raise money from all fans in attendance during the 3-game series. Andre Dawson, who played for the Marlins and Cubs and a current Special Assistant to the Marlins President, welcomed fans by signing free autographs and taking photographs. Wrigleyville proved to be a great fundraising success thanks to the "The Hawk" and many supporters.
This year's Wrigleyville event will take place on July 31 and August 1-2, 2009.

The 2009 Spring Training Youth Baseball Clinic took place on March 7, 2009 at Roger Dean Stadium. It offered the opportunity to learn from the pros on the practice field, batting cages and pitching mounds of the Marlins. Players and coaches instructed the participants on the fundamentals of baseball including pitching, hitting, fielding and base-running stations.
