Championship Series: Marlins defeat Cubs, 4-3 0
 
From the time Jack McKeon took over as manager on May 11, the Marlins performed with a quiet confidence and unwavering calmness through a season packed with adversity. Now, a team given little chance to contend is World Series bound. In stunning fashion, the Marlins rallied behind rookie Miguel Cabrera's four RBIs and Josh Beckett's four stellar innings of relief to claim the National League pennant with a 9-6 victory over the Cubs in the decisive Game 7.

Division Series: Marlins defeat Giants, 3-1
 
By winning three straight games, two emotionally draining at home, the Marlins took the series over the Giants, 3-1. A Division Series record crowd of 65,464 at Pro Player Stadium watched the Marlins move on to the Championship Series for the second time in the franchise's 11 seasons.
