After the Marlins beat the Nationals, 8-7, on Sunday, the team announced that on Monday, outfielder Cameron Maybin, right-handers Ryan Tucker and Jesus Delgado, and first baseman Gaby Sanchez will be called up from Double-A Carolina.
Because Sanchez isn't on the 40-man roster, his contract has been selected, and the club will make a corresponding roster move on Tuesday.
All four played a big part for the Mudcats, who advanced to the championship of the Southern League before losing the decisive game to Mississippi on Saturday night.
Acquired from the Tigers as part of the Miguel Cabrera-Dontrelle Willis trade last December, the 21-year-old Maybin is regarded as the Marlins' center fielder of the future. In 108 games, he batted .277 with 13 homers, 49 RBIs and 21 stolen bases.
Sanchez enjoyed a terrific season, batting .314 with 17 homers and 92 RBIs.
Tucker has already appeared in 10 games, six starts, for Florida. A first-round Draft pick in 2005, the hard-throwing right-hander is being groomed as a reliever. In 25 games, 12 starts, at Carolina, he went 5-3 with a 1.58 ERA. With the Marlins, he went 2-3 with an 8.39 ERA.
Delgado went 5-2 with a 3.45 ERA in 42 relief appearances for Carolina. He also saw action in six games with Triple-A Albuquerque.
