Marlins unveil Spring Training schedule

Grapefruit League slate opens March 4 vs. Nationals

11/20/09 12:49 PM EST

MIAMI -- The Marlins announced their Spring Training schedule on Friday, a 33-game exhibition slate that will see them play the Red Sox, Mets, Cardinals and the University of Miami, among others.

In their eighth season in Jupiter, Fla., the Marlins will play 16 home games at Roger Dean Stadium -- 19 total, if you count games when they'll serve as the visiting team against the Cardinals. The opener will come against UM on March 3, and the schedule will wind down with road games against Double-A Jacksonville and Class A Greensboro (in North Carolina) on April 2 and 3, respectively.

That will take them to Opening Day against the Mets at Citi Field on April 5.

Pitchers and catchers are set to report on Feb. 20 and will hold their first on-field workout that afternoon. Position players will report on Feb. 24, when the team's first full-squad workout will ensue.

The Nationals will be the first Major League team the Marlins host, on March 4, and will also make stops on March 21 and March 30. Also coming to Roger Dean Stadium will be the Mets (March 8, 14, 18 and 26), Red Sox (March 9), Twins (March 15), Braves (March 17), Orioles (March 23) and Astros (March 28).

The Cardinals, who share the Roger Dean Stadium complex with the Marlins, are on the schedule six times -- March 6, 7, 11, 19 and 27, as well as April 1.

Tickets for games at Roger Dean Stadium will go on sale at the stadium's box office and local Ticketmaster locations on Jan. 16.
