Prior to 2005, Porter had a 10-year playing career, including parts of three seasons in the Majors...he appeared in 89 games in the
Majors with Chicago (NL), Oakland and Texas, hitting .214 with five doubles, two triples, two home runs and eight RBI...made his
Major League debut May 9, 1999, with the Cubs...Appeared in one ML post-season, with Oakland in 2000...played in two games against the Yankees and recorded an infield single
off Dwight Gooden in his only at-bat...He played 1,064 games in the minors, after being selected by the Cubs in the 40th round of the 1993 June Draft...played in the
minors for the Cubs, A's, Rangers, Rockies and Braves...batted .269 with 113 home runs and 502 RBI during his minor league career...
had best season with Iowa (AAA) in 1999, batting .292 with 27 home runs and 64 RBI in 111 games...recorded career-high 51 stolen
bases in 1998 between Double-A West Tennessee (50 SB) and Iowa (1 SB)...stole 39 bases with Sacramento (AAA) in 2000.
